Philip Lawson replaced Simon Carrington as second baritone in The King's Singers in 1994, having pursued a career first as a freelance singer with all the major London professional choirs, then as Director of Music at a school in Salisbury, Wiltshire, a post he held whilst singing as a Lay Clerk in the choir of Salisbury Cathedral.

Philip is currently the main arranger for The King's Singers, as well as receiving commissions for composing from choirs in England and America, and from several European a cappella groups. Philip lives in a village near Salisbury with his wife, Lizzie and their three daughters Sophie, Amy and Georgia.
